The Silent Leadership Challenge
A Special Event Case Study From The National Foundation for the Deaf
Presentation - Friday 15th April, 1:50 - 3:00 pm
Held on the first Friday of August, this online fundraising event was started in 2012. The Silent Leadership Challenge recruits leaders for this one day event.
Participants undertake four communication challenges whil wearing hearing protectors to simulate deafness and experience something of the frustration and isolation that's a reality every day for the 700,000 New Zealanders with some type of hearing loss.
Leaders register at www.silentleadership.com and seek donations from their peers.
Fundraising Manager Lorien Doherty and CEO Louise Carroll, will describe the barriers deaf people face and how a well conceived and developed fundraising campaign such as the Silent Leadership Challenge can not only raise much need funds but unite people and create wide spread awareness and advocacy for deaf people.
