Dan is the co-owner and Creative Strategy Director at Marlin Communications - Australia's largest creative agency for charities. Marlin's clients include World Vision NZ, World Animal Protection Australia and New Zealand, The Smith Family, and Camp Quality.
Dan's started his career as a psychology researcher for the UK Government, before he turned his creativity to award-winning campaigns for brands like Vodafone and Virgin. Between 2002 and 2009 Dan worked at Bluefrog (London) and Pareto Fundraising (Sydney), before becoming Director of Fundraising and Communications for digital-based charity ReachOut.com. Dan took on leadership of Marlin in 2012 and since then it has developed effectiveness award-winning work, and won recognition for its business management and environmental sustainability practises.
In 2016 the team of 17 Marliners completed 33 fundraising campaigns including Caritas Australia's 50th Project Compassion, which raised over $11m. Dan specialises in developing engaging propositions and steering the development of the communications that bring them to life across advertising, direct marketing, and digital channels. The propositions are developed collaboratively with Marlin's clients using proven workshop methodologies, and are applied to whole organisations, as well as products for specific audiences such as regular giving programs, major donor approaches, community fundraising events, and bequests.
